Women In Trucking Association adds new director from Walmart’s Private Fleet

WITlogo1Plover, WI: The Women In Trucking Association’s board of directors unanimously approved Jeff Hammonds, Vice-President of Walmart Transportation (www.walmartstores.com) in Bentonville, Arkansas as its newest board member.

Hammonds fills the board seat vacated by Lana Batts, who resigned earlier this year to focus her efforts at Transport Capital Partners.

“Walmart has already shown their dedication to our mission,” said Ellen Voie, President/CEO of Women In Trucking. “With Jeff’s involvement at the board level, we hope to use his knowledge of the industry and his desire for a better driver environment to helps us achieve our goals,” Voie added.

“Walmart’s gold-level sponsorship of Women in Trucking fits well with our corporate goal of inclusion and diversity,” said Hammonds, “and I am excited at the opportunity to shine the spotlight on the role women play in this business.” Walmart and Fito-Lay have supported the association at a higher level by becoming Gold Level Partners in 2009.

Women In Trucking was established in 2007 to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the trucking industry. Its growth since its inception has been notable and has reached 1300 members, both corporate and individual.
