Two thumbs up for TA Truck Stop store 34 Nashville, Tennessee

December 26, 2009 by Truckdrivernews · 6 Comments

Dec. 22nd 2009 as most of you already know Arrow Trucking based in Tulsa, Oklahoma abruptly closed its doors, but forgot to tell any of their drivers.

The drivers had to find out the hard way, by trying to purchase fuel and come to find out their fuel cards were shut off.

The drivers spread out all over the country basically stranded, but when they called in all they got was a recorded message telling them to go to the nearest Freightliner dealer (if they were in a Freightliner or KW). The International truck drivers didn’t find out what to do until the next day.

There was a nasty rumor floating around Facebook (where OOIDA had set up a support Arrow drivers page) and also twitter, which is another social media spot to get information spread quick. The rumor was that a husband and wife team had made it to Nashville, Tenn. and were out of fuel. When they went to the TA truck stop the manager called the cops and had their truck repossessed along with all their belongings. Then, they were treated like children by the manager telling them HA HA you are homeless and don’t have a house to live in.

Someone supposedly called this into “Dave Nemo’s” satellite program and said all of these untrue rumors. It hit me pretty hard that someone would do something like this. So I decided to investigate, and I emailed the website and I wrote the following:

Hi, I am a writer/owner of www.truckdriversnews.com and we had unconfirmed reports that a husband and wife team for Arrow Transport were trying to get home and they stopped at your Nashville TA.

It was reported that the manager last night saw that they worked for Arrow Trucking in Tulsa, OK. which you may not know closed it doors on Dec. 22..and then issued a statement that if trucks were not brought to dealerships or terminals that the drivers would have charges brought against them. Also, there was rumor of a reward offered.

It was reported your Manager last night called the police and had the drivers removed from their truck, and the truck was towed away leaving the drivers stranded. Then, your manager started teasing them (causing a big scene) acting like a child would be saying things like “Ha Ha, you are homeless now”

I would be interested in knowing if this were true or not.

Thank you for your time

Jason Cox

I really wasn’t looking for a call back on this, as if it were my store and with all that had happened I sure wouldn’t want to admit to do something wrong either.

Well, strangely enough the manager of another store did call me today (on Christmas) and told me he had received the email, but that I was wanting a different store so he forwarded it to the right place. He also stated that this would be resolved.

It wasn’t too long after that I received another phone call, but was not home at the time. It was from the Nashville TA Truck Stop Store number thirty four manager Virginia Kirk. She stated that none of what the rumor said was true at her store. She did tell me that they had one Arrow driver come in, and they gave free showers and food, and helped get him fuel for four days. He was also allowed to use the phone and fax without charge.

Virginia also stated that “Johnny” the Arrow driver did make it home. She told me they had another Arrow truck on their lot that looked to be abandoned and they finally tracked down the driver, and the driver said he had left it there until he could return it on Monday, that he lived in Nashville and was at home.

Not sure why this rumor was started, but it was completely untrue, Virginia told me they had not heard of the “reward” for the Arrow trucks either, and that she would never do that to any truck driver. Sounds like just another person wanting to start trouble with starting a bad rumor about a business that was doing everything they could to try to help out during a bad time.

Virginia also stated that anyone wanting more information should call the store or stop by and ask for her that she would be more than happy to talk to them. Nashville TA Truck Stop store thirty four

This is a terrible situation that has happened to the Aroow drivers. If I run across another driver I will do everything I can to help him. Hope to stop at Nashville TA #34 sometime and visit and purchase my fuel there. They sound like great people.

Thank you for clearing that up Jason! Thank God for credible news reporters like yourself who ACTUALLY research to VERIFY the truth before reporting! As you and your readers well know, not everyone who Twitters or blogs or owns a website, DO ANY research but simply print rumors without any thought of what the fallout could be or who even care if something is true! Those type of people are doing so either because they are lazy or just love sensationalism to promote their own agenda. That’s not smart nor humane. Those people who promote rumors without proof will find out one day someone is suing them and they can even end up doing jail time for misrepresentation and/or fraud.

Truckdrivernews.com is an excellent website complete with everything for the truck drivers. This webpage, however is missing all-important mass communications tools.Nowhere on this page shows access to Twitter.com or FaceBook.com or MySpace.com not even a simple 800 number that a truck driver could call in case of an emergency like just happened with Arrow Trucking.Other than all that,TruckDriverNews.com is a must-read for all truck drivers ! Keep up the good works & have prosperous new year ! twitter.com/johnnie50 & johnnie500/facebook & MySpace.com/johnnie-o

    • Thanks Johnnie50 for the comment. This site is operated by myself, it is not made up of people actually working somewhere in an office. I do however have another writer who does write on occasions, and there are a couple of people who have posted a guest post, but mostly it is me.

I will add a contact form to the site today, I do have a widget on the site for Facebook, my phone number and address is in the privacy policy located here on the site.
