Truckers are Santa’s Helpers Too

Thanksgiving is now over, we can all focus on the major season that is to follow. Christmas I feel is the biggest holiday of all, and the most important one. It won’t be long before children everywhere are sitting down to one of the most read storys of all time, The Night Before Christmas.
As with many of you, I have heard and read this story probably thousands of times. No matter how old or young a person is, it still brings a smile to faces everywhere. But, I believe there is a “lost chapter” to this age old story. Well, maybe not lost, but I believe it should have a “chapter added”
The part I believe that needs to be added to the story should go in before “When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer, With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.” Written by Clement Clarke Moore
As you all know this “old story” was written back in the eighteen hundred, so in order to add my chapter to it, we would need to fast forward a few hundred years. The story should tell how Santa and the elves build all the toys for all the little girls and boys, but he has to employ some help from thousands of brave men and women who bring the toys from place to place. So Santa only has to pick them up in different parts of the world, and distribute them.
These brave men and women are truck drivers. Elves are not tall enough, their legs are not long enough to reach the pedals, so Santa had to employ truck drivers to help out with all the deliveries. Of course it is not realistic to believe that this takes place in one night either. It takes months of planning to make deliveries like these, thousands of deliveries are made every day all over the world, for Santa.
These are times truckers really don’t care if they make money or not, they do it to bring the smiles on the little ones faces on Christmas morning. I guess all through history truckers have been helping to deliver all these presents, from the day of the horse and buggy up to modern day deliveries with tractor and trailers.
If it was not for truckers, there would not be the joys shared throughout the world on Christmas day. I think we all need to sit back and do a little thinking, before we go “mouthing off” about how truckers are destroying the roads, and causing all these accidents, and causing the general public to be late for their dinner dates and meetings, or work, etc.
If it were not for the truck drivers, these people would not have anything. All the things you and I have and own, were at one time or another on a truck. This is how it has always been, and how it will always be. “If you have it a truck brought it” is a famous saying by thousands of truck drivers today, and it is the truth.
We need to quit blaming the truckers for doing this and doing that, but we need to start thanking truckers for what they do. Truckers have another saying, “No matter if it’s snowing, raining, hailing, or sunny the load still gets delivered”. The postal service sorta stole that saying and rewrote it, but I guarantee you it was started by truck drivers.
So, next time you want to give a trucker the “one finger salute” for something you probably caused anyway. Why not just “wave” or give a “thumbs up” to them for doing a job that many have no clue how hard of work it really is. Only a selected few of individuals can become “real truck” drivers, and handle the job.
